Ryder Cup Golf Courses
Case Study
The Ryder Cup takes place every two years between the best golfers from the United States against the best golfers from Europe. The event is one of the worlds most watched sporting events, and is always played at one of the top courses in Europe and the USA.
Concept are very proud to note that the past three Ryder cups that have taken place in Europe, and the next event, are on courses that use Concept products.
The three previous European Ryder Cups have taken place at The K Club in Ireland, The Belfry in England, and Valderrama in Southern Spain. In 2010 the event will take place at the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.
In addition to the European Ryder Cup Courses, Concept is also installed at The Greenbrier in West Virginia, USA who was the site of the first Ryder Cup contested under the current format of United States against Europe.
Celtic Manor
This prestigious resort in Wales uses the Concept golf course management system for all its golf operations, including 3 championship courses, golf academy and pro-shops. In addition the two Celtic Manor Spas; The Forum Spa & The Clarins Health Spa; operate with Concept’s Spa and leisure system.
Celtic Manor also operates with Micros, Concept’s global partner. All Concept’s products are integrated with Micros, hence we have provided them with a seamless system to manage the hotel, food and beverage and all golf and leisure facilities.
Celtic have been a Concept client since 2002 and have been inspirational in providing Concept with ideas for new functionality over the years..
The K Club
Situated close to Dublin in Ireland, The K club has used Concept to manage its golf operations since 2002. The course plays host to many thousands of local and domestic visitors every year. All reservations, billing and other administration is managed by the Concept system.
As with many other hotel and golf resorts in the UK and Ireland, Concept together with Micros have provided The K Club with a seamless system that manages the hotel, food and beverage, and all leisure facilities.
Other prestigious courses in close proximity to The K Club that use the Concept system include Mount Juliet and Tralee.
The Belfry
The Belfry, a very large and prestigious resort complex in the Midlands UK, is also home to the PGA of Europe that Concept sponsored for many years. The golf shop at the Belfry is the largest onsite golf and lifestyle store in Europe. Every leading supplier of golf equipment and apparel is represented in the Belfry shop. Concept were recently selected to supply the Concept golf shop with a very comprehensive POS system for the Belfry’s golf outlets. The Concept system perfectly fitted the requirements, as it includes, sizes and colour control, full stock control, automatic pricing, membership accounts and gift vouchers. Valderrama
The Valderrama golf course in the Costa del Sol in southern Spain is regularly voted the No1 golf course in continental Europe. Concept designed a unique bespoke system for the golf complex, and it has been in use at Valderamma for over 10 years.
